I really enjoy what I do, and I've been lucky enough to work with amazingly talented people at great creative agencies. My experiences at agencies like Barton F. Graf, Droga5, TBWA Chiat NY, and Fallon have taken me around the world on epic jobs. But I've also shot run-and-gun videos on the street for no budget. And edited in a basement. Whether it's scrappy or huge, every project needs its own blend of problem solving, resourcefulness and magic spells.
It's been nice to win a few awards along the way. But the reason I keep doing the job and don't chuck it all in to start a goat farm is because of the people in our industry. Writers, editors, quirky animators, cranky mixers, junior account managers, brilliant line producers, I love working with them all.
I’ve been a Girl Scout, an archeaologist, and a spy, which all uniquely qualified me for production life.
In fact, I have a whole philosophy about production that I’d love to talk to you about, if you have a few spare hours. Preferably over a cocktail in a fancy hotel lobby in Amsterdam or Vancouver.
I also like to hike and camp. I see as much film and live music as I can. I travel way too much because I want to see everywhere, right now. I pack light. And I live in the beautiful Hudson Valley of NY.
A short film I love is Buster Keaton’s “One Week”. I live in a 1930s mail order kit house, like the one Buster tries to build. And shooting things practically, with stunts done in camera, is one of my favorite techniques. Check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xd6ddOlbKp8
